Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both have a huge credibility issue - trying to play themselves off as "regular folks." Neither is "regular folks" from where I sit - and I wish the people with the straight party mentality would wake up and smell the coffee.
Both are graduates of Ivy League law schools. So are their spouses. Clinton, other than a short stint as an attorney in Little Rock, has never held an actual job. Obama was a practicing attorney for a short while, before becoming an academic at another elite educational institution, the University of Chicago.
Neither of them has ever held a "dirty" job, of any kind, ever. No flipping burgers, no waiting tables, nothing of the kind. The only time they worked, it was in a profession that is, quite frankly, dominated by economic vampires with very few of them ever displaying a single drop of compassion for others - including their clients.
You can bet that neither of them has ever shopped in Wal Mart - although Hillary did sit on the company's board of directors.
Obama keeps bringing up his mother as having raised him under the harshest of circumstances - but who has validated his claims? He has no living family members within the United States who could say "yay" or "nay" to his assertions. At other times, Obama has said he was raised by his grandparents, working class folks.
In reality, he was raised in Indonesia until he was close to becoming a teenager, when his mother's Muslim husband finally grew tired of her American ways. His mother apparently more or less turned over his rearage to her parents at that point.
But the point is - neither of the Democrats, both of whom claim they represent the "average working person" has never BEEN an "average working person." Ever.
The only two people still in the race who HAVE been an average working person are John McCain and Ron Paul. Ron Paul worked his way through college and medical school. McCain was in the military before being thrust into a leadership role by virtue of his moral fiber and leadership qualities.
The only candidate who has actually stood up and demanded change - without it being solely a set of buzzwords to get voter attention, is Ron Paul. Oh, sure, you keep hearing Obama TALK about "a time for change" - but where the hell are the actual PLANS for change? The only candidate with an actual plan for change is Ron Paul.
And Paul IS STILL IN THE RACE! McCain acknowledged this on "The Daily Show" on May 7th. No, Paul doesn't have a lot of candidates - but enough that McCain and the Republican Party will be forced to deal with Paul and his supporters if they want a shot at the White House.
Now - stop and think, Democratic voters - think, don't just kneejerk click "Democratic Party" when it comes time to vote. You'll be doing yourself - and all of us - a great favor.
And perhaps we'll have a true leader FINALLY back in the White House for the first time in 20 years.
